Foothold

"Foothold" was inspired by a friend "tired of trying to do the right thing." They traded away a long term gain for a sort term fix, like Esau giving away his birthright for a bowl of soup. "What good is a birthright if I can't survive another day?" This song is a cry to Jesus to keep me safe from those voices.

This is a book-holder until I can get a better recording. The chord chart is included in the store.

Enemies on every side

Saying I'm a fool to climb.

See that path that's wide and free

Why would you not take what’s easy?”

Oh, Be my foothold! My daily strength for

The face of this mountain.

For all around me, the voices call me

To ways of destruction

I’ve been down that pathway wide

Taken lead of my own life.

Placed my feet where it felt right

Stepped into my own landslide.

Oh, Be my foothold! My daily strength for

The face of this mountain.

For all around me, the voices call me

To ways of destruction

Guide me Savior, or I die.

Hold me safe on every side.

Feed me in the shade of the Bread and Wine.

On His pathway, marking close

I will follow where He goes.

Place my feet where He says safe

Harnessed in His daily grace

Oh, Be my foothold! My daily strength for

The face of this mountain.

For all around me, the voices call me

To ways of destruction
